Whose Fault Is It?

What messages are we Christians sending to God, lost people, future leaders, and God’s flock if we are not growing in the knowledge of him? Whose fault is it when Christians are guilty of openly engaging in immorality, hypocrisy, pride, greed and corruption among other vices?

Having received the gift of free will, it’s nobody’s fault but yours:

  1. If you think your life has no purpose. Jesus said, “All of us must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the one who sent me, because there is little time left before the night falls and all work comes to an end,” (John 9:4). Everyone has an assignment. “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope,” (Jer 29:11).
  2. If you’re stuck in the traditions of your ancestors. Jesus called the Pharisees and teachers of religious law hypocrites because by their own tradition, they nullified the direct commandment of God to “Honor your father and mother,” (Matt 15:1-9).
  3. If you fail to do the right thing. God does not tempt us to do wrong. “Temptation comes from the lure of your own evil desires. These evil desires lead to evil actions, and evil actions lead to death,”  (James 1: 14,15). Sin is disobedience to God who set the standard for our lives. “Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it,” (James 4:17).
  4. If you’re ignorant of the truth around you. “Only fools say in their hearts, ‘There is no God.’ They are corrupt, and their actions are evil; no one does good!” (Psalm 14:1) Try as hard as you can and see if you can defy the aging process, the weather, or death… these are all out of your control. Evidence is all around us that someone else is in control.

Jesus tells those who think they are good religious people in spite of their lack of a relationship with him, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor; sick people do. …For I have come to call sinners, not those who think they are already good enough,” (Matt 9:12, 13). But although the world was made through him, the world didn’t recognize him when he came. Even in his own land and among his own people, he was not accepted. But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn! This is not a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan–this rebirth comes from God,” (John 1:10-13).

Guard your thoughts. It’s nobody’s fault but yours if you refuse to believe the truth.
